Following on from the October launch of the new HGY Series gen sets from Himoinsa in Madrid, Spain, the company has reported an agreement with UK-based Peak Gen Power to deliver 10 units of the new model.

Himoinsa will assemble 10 units of the HGY-2600 D5 gen set fitted with 12GY175 engines developed by Yanmar. In total, these can deliver up to 20 MW of power. All units comply with DEFRA regulations, emitting less than 190 mg/Nm³ of NOx.

The gen sets are carbon neutral as they will use HVO100 as the primary fuel. While HVO is not a low-carbon fuel at point of use, most emissions are offset due to the carbon absorbed by the material (biomass) used to produce the fuel. Emissions treatment systems will further reduce carbon output.

“We are delighted to sign this agreement, as we see Himoinsa as a strategic partner for critical mission energy supply. We’ve already collaborated successfully on other projects and trust their technological capabilities. The opportunity to utilize the competitive advantages of the HGY Series, with the new Yanmar engine, is very exciting and it truly represents a step forward for everyone,” said Ian Graves, CEO at Peak Gen Top.

The new gen sets will be located at a Peak Gen site in Peterborough, UK. The 10 generators will be sychronised and be capable of supplying power in less than 30 seconds. Units will be delivered in sound-proofed 40-foot containers.

Peak Gen Power currently operates a fleet of generators with a total power output of 184 MW. This is complemented with 6 MWh of battery power storage.

Power produced by the Peak Gen fleet is either sold across the power markets, or delivered directly to customers.
